Can you help us build more than a pantry?

For the last five years, we have operated out of the former Coralville Post Office, graciously provided by the City of Coralville at no cost. We knew from the get-go this would not suffice as a permanent home due to spatial constraints and the City’s intent to eventually demolish and redevelop the site. Today the building is in disrepair and can no longer meet our growing food storage and programming needs. In order to remain a vital safety net for our neighbors, it’s clear we need a larger, updated building.

The good news is the future home of our dreams is within reach! Our longtime partners at Coralville United Methodist Church have generously gifted us land for a new 5,000 sq. ft. building. Located on the empty lot attached to the church’s existing site, this brand new space will give us every edge we need to become more than a pantry. The property is beyond ideal—within walking distance to the Rec Center and Junior High, equipped with ample parking, and complete with its own bus stop on the corner.

The new facility, designed by Neumann Monson Architects and to be built by Hodge Construction, will give us:

  • Substantial food storage

  • Welcoming waiting room

  • Easy-to-navigate shopping area

  • Ample office/meeting space

  • Sustainability features

  • Educational garden

  • Bike locks and repair station

  • Patio with picnic tables and community fridge

  • Outdoor cooking area for grill-outs and pizza nights

  • Access to church kitchen and community room

We are eager to move in and launch community-focused programs like neighborhood meals, cooking classes, advocacy group meetings, ESL support, entrepreneurial incubators, mobile health clinics, and more.

Help kickstart this important new chapter by making a meaningful contribution towards our “More Than A Pantry” Building Campaign today. Thank you for your support!
